What is compassion....
Karen Armstrong writes in her book, 12 Steps to a Compassionate Life, that "compassion derives from the Latin patior and the Greek pathein, to suffer, undergo or experience. It means to to endure something with another person."

Compassion is something which requires us to put ourselves in another person's shoes, to feel his or her pain as though it were our own, and to enter into his or her point of view. This is summed up in the Golden Rule: Matthew 7:12 "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets",  in other words, "Do not do to others what you would not like them to do to you" or, "Always treat others as you wish to be treated yourself."

What is the Charter for compassion? Lets find out by reading Karen Armstrongs book "Twelve steps to a compassionate life"  and sharing our thoughts here on this blog site.
